Our twelve room boutique hotel on Samara Beach is uniquely situated on a one-acre private lot, approximately 1-minute’s stroll to the ocean. Our property backs to lush trees, home to monkeys and exotic birds.

The Hideaway is a 5 minute drive from the villages of Samara & Carrillo, but a world apart in style and service. The stunning design creates a unique experience where the guest suites are in harmony with the landscape.

Begin your day with a stroll through our tropical gardens and a dip in the refreshing swimming pool, complete with a cascading fountain.

Complimentary breakfast included with your room rate. Choose indoor dining in our air-conditioned dining room or al fresco dining on our terrace overlooking the swimming pool, fountain & gardens. Our bar features beer, soft drinks and bottled water to keep you cool and refreshed.

On-site we offer complimentary Internet access, a selection of movies which can be watched in our media area, board games & cards, books and magazines.

Our concierge service includes booking of activities through a local company for fishing, dolphin tours, scuba diving, surfing lessons, massage, and Spanish lessons.

The Hideaway offers 12 suites — 8 with 2 Queen beds and 4 with a King bed. Each suite features a private patio or balcony, sitting area, an extra large bathroom, air conditioning, and hot water. Rooms overlook our tropical gardens & swimming pool. Two of our suites are handicap-accessible. All rooms are non-smoking.

"Outstanding value and accommodations!"

After reading about the reviews on TripAdvisor and information for The Hideaway we decided to give it a try. My wife is Costa Rican and we have traveled to many locations in CR. We really enjoyed our stay with Doug and Rosie and the beaches were very good; especially Playa Carrillo. Samara has many nice restaurants to enjoy, however we enjoyed eating at The Hideaway as well. They keep the hotel well maintained and the staff is very helpful. They are very environmentally friendly and its setting was perfect to observe the Congo monkeys each morning near the pool. From what we saw it is the place to stay at Playa Samara. Great value!

“Would definitely go back.”

My husband and I spent eight nights at the Hideaway in Samara and our only complaint was that we had to go home. All staff are very friendly and accommodating, The location is perfect, a nice stroll along the beach to reach the center of Samara, or a short walk to Carrillo beach. The Hideaway has a hidden gem and that is the cook, the food is very good. I hope anyone going has a great time just like my husband and I had.

“Just like you'd like a place to be”

Nice large rooms on south tip of samara beach, in sparkling 12 room boutique hotel out of town located in a secluded area where monkeys come by in the nearby trees to nibble and talk. Nice typical breakfast with fruit, juice, coffee and choice to start the day. Comfortable eating area by the pool surrounded in floral luxury. It wasn't very crowded the beginning of January, so it was truly a luxury to my wife and I who like the quiet.

“Absolutely worth it”

This is a fabulous place, with great rooms that have been built and outfitted with guests in mind, terrific location, great service, and lovely owners Doug and Rosie who are friendly, helpful, and accommodating to all types of travelers. The site is almost better than being right on the beach because it is surrounded by lush vegetation with lots of birds and howler monkeys. Easy walk or drive to Playa Carrillo, a fabulous beach to turn two teenage boys loose while mom and dad get to sleep, beach walk, and read. Totally worth it, we felt very lucky to have stumbled onto this.
